About
In the summer of ’08 I found I couldn’t get my summer retail job back, so I applied for a ton of other jobs. Nobody even called me back. After fooling around online for a bit I realized that the blog I’d been keeping for over a year, Mason Tech Beat, was a great resume for a brand new career in freelance writing/blogging.
I got writing jobs with a large number of blogs at first (most of whom are in the “Where I’ve Written” section, and eventually settled on MakeUseOf and Geeks Are Sexy. I blew through a ton of articles with both of these awesome sites and actually managed to make a little supplimental income (a little goes a long way in college).
Now, I’m back after a short hiatus from blogging and still flitting about from blog to blog. This new website will hopefully last me for quite a while. It also marks larger strides into the realm of science writing, something I’ve had my toe in for only a little while. My other interests include performing magic, training in martial arts (specifically Shoto-kan Karate), and some outdoorsy stuff too.
I will be working on my PhD in Microbiology, so I’m hoping that I’ll have enough time to stay active online. Maybe I’ll even be able to channel some of the science I learn in school right onto the interwebs.
